If an unauthorized person gives you a check, the true account holder could request a stop payment of the check. WebbIf the check gets soiled, crumpled, or torn, the bank will consider it an invalid check and refuse to make payment to the person presenting the check. If the check has no signature on it, it can never be presented for payment to be made. If there is an alteration on the check, payment shall not be made by the bank.
