WebBonfire Ascetics don't respawn NPCs. They also don't reset metal chests or key items like Fragrant Branches of Yore, but most other things get reset, including bosses. If you need to talk to him, you can wait multiple in-game hours for his gravestone to spawn and then pay the murder-hobo tax to summon his ghost.
